[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]In Korea, the government selects individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession to provide more opportunities to the young architects; and this award is known as the Young Architects Award. The purpose of the award is to select and discover the outstanding individuals in the field to support in professional development as architects. The awarded individuals are given the opportunities for work exhibition and publication as well as to participate in international conferences.
This year’s award goes to the following five young architects: Kwak Sang-Joon and Lee So-Jung from OBBA, Kim Min-Seok and Park Hyun-Jin from Notion Architecture, and Kim Soo-Young from Su;mvie.
OBBA focuses their practice on multi-family housing, which is the universal housing component in Korea. Also, the team has been acknowledged for the unique forms of architecture that blends harmoniously with the environment.
Both architects from Notion Architecture are talented architects who have studied abroad in U.K and Germany.
Kim Soo-Young from Su;mvie has previously worked at Studio Kim Jun-Sung; also, Soo-Young’s multi-talent is evident through Soo-Young’s practice in the field of publication.
These three teams will exhibit their works and hold conferences with the public regarding architecture during Korea Architectural Culture Festival 2014 in Gwang-Ju.
